As we told you earlier this year, Heise had a plan to cut a Dirty Back Room Deal with Meijers. In February, Heise got the Board of Trustees to vote in favor of settling the “friendly lawsuit” inspired by Heise himself.
Now Heise is pushing the Board of Trustees to approve the use of $15 million of taxpayer dollars to clean up the property for his friends at Meijer. That is right, tonight the Board of Trustees will vote to approve using $15 million of taxpayer’s money to clean up the property for the Meijer development.
What does Heise get in return? Just follow the money.
Dale Watchowski the CEO of REDCO, the developer for the Meijer project was on the “Host Committee” for Heise’s fundraiser just last week. It is reported that Heise demanded that members of the Host Committee not only write checks to his campaign but to raise thousands of dollars as well.
Additionally, last year Heise reported thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from the Redco/Meijer team.
Now we know why Heise encouraged Meijer to sue the Township so that his campaign could cash in.
