Supervisor Heise and Meijer have found a way to ignore the Planning Commission’s rejection of the proposed Meijer on 5 Mile Road.  What is it?  It is a friendly lawsuit.  Last week Meijer and Redico filed a lawsuit against the township in hopes of getting a quick, favorable settlement from the township.

It is no secret that Heise has been a big supporter of bringing Meijer to Plymouth Township.  In a Hometown Life article on June 20th  Heise said,  “…I think Meijer will be a great addition to the west side of town.”

At the Planning Commission over 100 residents called for the Commission to reject the proposed Meijer, and the Commission did just that, rejecting the proposal with a 5-1 vote.  In fact, Treasurer Doroshewitz said in a Hometown Life article on June 22nd that the township would “have a bloody, freakin’ mess on our hands” if the project was to move forward.

After the Planning Commission’s strong rejection, Heise told Crain’s Detroit Business that a Circuit Court Appeal or litigation could be an outcome (June 23, 2023).  So residents should not be surprised, that in less than two months, Meijer and Redico have filed their lawsuit.

It is clear that the fix is in.

Please contact our Board of Trustees and tell them to reject the Heise/Meijer Dirty Rotten Deal.
