Seven years ago Northville Township residents joined forces to stop Meijer from coming to Five and Beck. Residents were concerned with the increase in crime and traffic that a Meijer would bring and its negative effect on their property values.

Now Plymouth Township Officials are pushing a new deal for Meijers to come to town. However, officials are trying not to make the same mistakes as Northville Township. Rather than having the issues come before the Board of Trustees, Plymouth is trying to jam the project through the Planning Commission this Wednesday (June 21st). If the Planning Commission approves this deal at their June meeting, the matter will be approved and will never go before the Board of Trustees. Additionally, it will cost Plymouth Township taxpayers $15 million to clean up the property, crime will go out, and traffic will be a nightmare.
